The excursion to the Préhistomuseum will give the children an opportunity to explore the story of human development through direct, hands-on experiences. During the visit, they will follow the Botanical Evolution Maze and investigate practical activities involving the reconstruction of prehistoric tools and skulls. The children will also take part in two workshops: one on prehistoric hunting techniques, exploring how changes in environment may have influenced human development, and another on fire-making techniques from prehistory to the present day, encouraging them to consider how knowledge and technology are passed on and adapted over time.
The excursion will connect directly with work taking place in the classroom on early human beings and the timelines of humanity. It will provide a concrete experience to support the children’s understanding of how humans lived, adapted and developed over time, including the transition from nomadic life to settled communities and, eventually, the emergence of early civilizations.
